UnPop |
-deletes non-current records, keeping your database size down. It deletes:
- sold / re-registered aircraft where a new hex code is assigned
- write offs / damaged beyond economical repair(dber)
- aircraft with cancelled registrations / permanently withdrawn from use(pwfu)
- scrapped aircraft
- older aircraft in storage where obvious will not fly again
- recoded aircraft where new hex code has been assigned (registration remains the same)

- aircraft from airlines that go bankrupt / cease operations are not UnPopped but have their Status changed
to STD (stored) until the aircraft are either sold on or declared pwfu, with a remark in the UserNotes noting
where stored (if known) and any other comments

- aircraft that are re-registered where the new hex code is not yet known, are not automatically unpopped in
case the hex code is still being sent, as a 'miscode' (see here) An entry 'tbu' (to be unpopped) is entered in
the Status column, and a remark is entered in the UserNotes stating where the aircraft has been re-registered
to, until such time a new hex code has been issued, the code is no longer being sent, or it is found that the old
hex code is in fact being used as a miscode.

- aircraft that go on lease, for example to Canada for winter lease, and are re-registered, are not UnPopped
every year, their Status is changed to H (hold) for the duration of the lease, remaining in the database, with a
note in the UserNotes about the lease and are changed back to C(current) when returned in the Spring.
Same for the hex codes for the registrations carried while on lease, they are changed to H during the summer,
ready to be re-instated when leased again the following winter, as many of the same aircraft travel back and
forth across on lease every year

Since SBS came on the market in 2005, there have been over 800 airlines that have ceased operations,
original estimates were that there were 8-10,000 aircraft that could be unpopulated, dbpop is now
approaching 20,000 UnPops with many more to come, only dbpop removes the expired data and the hex
code from your database

- adds new hex codes and data to your database for
- factory new aircraft prior to delivery where hex code already known
- imminent re-registrations with new hex code known
-no need to go searching for details of aircraft when first picked up, hex code and details will already be in
your database
- entries will have a new logo placed in the OperatorFlag Code for alerting on first reception of a new
entry.(see screenshots below) Some programmes highlight a new code only the first time it's received, but if
missed or not seen at that time, becomes just another entry on second time received, with no notification
that it's needed. Only dbpop inserts the NEW, which will continue to be displayed in your list each time, until
you've seen it, and can then change the NEW to a logo of your choice
*NOTE* PrePop is done by regions (see map below) You'll select which region(s) you would like to receive
PrePop updates for, so if for example, you live in Europe your database won't be pre-popped with new
American B738's if you didn't select region 2. There's a region 10 which is all aircraft over B767 / A330 size,
all smaller intercontinental aircraft (eg trans-Atlantic B757's to Europe), all large bizjets, and aircraft
from several countries of convenient register (eg Bermuda, Cayman Islands) which everyone will get in their
PrePop updates due to the complexity of splitting this fleet. A full region list and map are included with the
download. Selecting all regions for PrePop along with region 10 will add an average of new hex codes every
day, region 2 (USA) will add an average 10 per day, and region 5 (Europe) will add an average 5 new codes
every day. PrePops are done by the region of the intended operator, eg an Irish registered aircraft destined
for a Russian operator will be Pre-Popped into region 7 (Russia), not the region for the country of register.
dbpop is a subscription service providing daily or weekly updates for anyone who uses a Kinetic SBS and/or BaseStation.sqb database. Many users may not have cleared, re-started or have only done minor updating to their database leaving it containing much out of date/expired/incorrect data, oversized and inaccurate.(take the 10 minute database checker here )
dbpop is the next level in database updating services
it UnPop(ulates) RePop(ulates) and PrePop(ulates) data for you so you don't have to worry about doing it yourself. Designed for convenience, simplicity of installation, and ease of use, dbpop is suitable for all users. There are three main features:
-adds / updates info for major fields:
type
registration
operator
construction number
ICAO type code
-adds new info for the following:
line number
first flight date (where known)
current operator delivery date
status
previous registration
selcal
reserved registration (if any)
ATC call sign
colour scheme if different from standard
engine type
-refreshes details for the following changes: NOTE: a new logo is inserted in the OperatorFlag Code field to alert you to major changes (defined as changes to registration / hex code / frame) This logo, exclusive to dbpop, is inserted by both the RePop and PrePop features as a very valuable, visual, alerting tool (see screenshot examples below)
- re-register -completely new registrations are PrePops (see below)
- re-register -same airframe, same hexcode, different registration
-countries that use the proper ICAO hex code assignment method, tie the hexcode to the airframe,
when the aircraft is re-registered within the same country, or returns back on the register from another
country. The registration will change but the hex code will remain the same, dbpop will alert you with
the NEW logo, an example of this is:

- re-register -different airframe, same hexcode, same registration
-many countries use an allocation system where the hex code is permanently tied to the registration. An
airframe can be changed, but if the same registration is used, the same hex code is also used. This
happens particularily with biz jets, you would have no way of knowing, dbpop alerts you with the NEW
logo, an example of this is:

again, other programmes will update the data for you, only dbpop would display a new logo
everytime a new airframe is registered

-operator change - will have NEW logo if titles and/or colour scheme is changed, examples of this are:
- mergers are tracked and aircraft are updated as they are re-painted, the entry will only be changed
and the NEW logo displayed when painted, to reflect the current colour scheme carried, not updated
just by date of merger. Recent examples are the Northwest to Delta, and Continental to United
(mainline and Express) rebranding, as well as
- colour scheme change -10 Skywest CRJ200s have recently been painted from Delta Connection
to American Eagle
as above, other programmes will update the info, only dbpop would display a new logo, and
these remain in your display until you've seen the aircraft, and can then change the NEW to logo of
your choice
-the following are updated by dbpop but will not have a NEW logo displayed
- colour changes where it is a variation on an existing scheme eg Alitaila, Thomson, Monarch
- aircraft modifications eg winglets, cargo conversion
